Assistant Professor, Saint Leo U; Director, Hybrid Pedagogy

Biography

Chris Friend is Assistant Professor of English at Saint Leo University, and the Director of Hybrid Pedagogy. He also produces HybridPod, bringing Hybrid Pedagogy to everyone’s ears. His work explores the interactions among teaching, learning, and course delivery, with particular attention to how technologies of connection and communication influence pedagogy. With over a dozen years’ experience teaching freshmen in both high school and college, he feels most at home building classes that teach fundamental or preparatory skills and building assignments that trick students into achieving more than they thought they could. Being an avid fan of Apple software, Asimov fiction, Star Trek utopias, Pixar storytelling, and NASA spaceflight make him a special kind of nerd, but his cats don’t seem to mind.
