As Digital Pedagogy Lab enters its third year, we’re especially excited about the Institute offerings in 2017. This year’s dual events — in Fredericksburg, VA and Vancouver, BC — will feature some of the most dynamic speakers and faculty to date, including:

  • Sara Goldrick-Rab, whose keynote address “Paying the Price: College Costs, Basic Needs and Insecurity, and the Real Crisis in Education” will help us focus our pedagogies and practices where they are needed most;
  • Rusul Alrubail, our keynote speaker at the Vancouver event, whose work as a speaker and teacher has earned international attention;
  • Adeline Koh, whose work as a leader in Digital Humanities and feminist entrepreneurialism is an example of how pedagogy and scholarship can become public practice;
  • Amy Collier, Associate Provost of Digital Learning at Middlebury College, whose popular Design track returns this year with a social action bent;
  • Maha Bali and Kate Bowles, two renowned educators and writers who have made profound strides in intercultural collaboration through projects that span five continents;
  • Robin DeRosa and Rajiv Jhangiani, two of the strongest voices in open pedagogy and open education, who will lead a new track at the Vancouver event…

Plus, music, movies, a technology test kitchen (in Fredericksburg), and a free domain for everyone who attends (courtesy of Reclaim Hosting)… Not to mention the opportunity to present a lightning talk or digital poster session, engage in discussion and critical inquiry, and network with educators from around the globe. Digital Pedagogy Lab Institutes are basically the magical unicorn of academic conferences!
