Dr. Felecia Caton Garcia holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Oregon and a Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of New Mexico, where the focus of her research was on Mixed Race Identity, Mestizaje, and Contemporary Narrative. Felecia teaches American Studies, Chicana/e/o Studies, and English at Central New Mexico Community College, where she is currently serving as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategist. Felecia received a Digital Pedagogy Lab Fellowship in 2020 and served as faculty at DPL 2021. In 2018 Felecia was the recipient of a Mexicanx Initiative Fellowship, which included her inclusion in the anthology A Larger Reality: Speculative Fiction from the Bicultural Margins, and her full-length collection of poetry Say That is published by the University of New Mexico Press. Felecia lives in the South Valley of Albuquerque along the Rio Grande with an extensive collection of cats, dogs, and other living things.
